The Democratic Party (PDM) considers that the political crisis in Moldova could be solved if an apolitical, neutral person fielded by the Opposition in agreement with the Communist Party is elected as head of state, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The ruling party should offer the Opposition the possibility of putting forward a candidate for President from among neutral, apolitical circles and give the 60 votes that they have,” the PDM president Dumitru Diacov said at a news conference on Thursday. The PDM leader said that the power and the Opposition should hold talks to find a candidate that would suit both of the sides. “This way, the Opposition would show that it has a serious attitude towards the situation in the country, while the government would show that it is not arrogant and can carry out talks with the Opposition,” Diacov said. He thinks that the PCRM should take the first step. “The proverb says that the most powerful should yield up. The government should give in to the caprices of the smallest ones, the Opposition,” the PDM leader said. According to Diacov, such a solution would be a compromise solution that would bring a balance between powers and Moldova could avoid early elections in a difficult economic situation. If a president is not elected, the PDM will take part in early elections. “Certainly, the PDM will participate in early polls as the results of the April 5 elections do not show the potential of our party, which was attacked by both of the camps during the election campaign.” Most probably, the party will run in elections together with other parties. The PLD leader approves of the idea of participating under a joint list with the right and center-wing parties. “We are ready to hold talks with everyone, except the PCRM,” Dumitru Diacov said.
