The People's Assembly of Gagauzia is concerned that the elections for the Bashkan (Governor) of the territorial autonomous unit might be postponed as the local Central Election Commission could not choose its administration during five meetings. The elections were set for December 12, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a communique, the People's Assembly says the members of the Central Election Commission of Gagauzia were designated on October 1. The Commission includes by three representatives of the People's Assembly, the Court of Appeals and the Comrat Executive Committee. Under the region's legislation, the administration of the Commission is elected from among its members. In the five meetings, none of the three candidates for chairman won the necessary number of votes. Thus, the Commission cannot start preparing for elections.
