The campaign for the election of members of town and district councils started in the Transnistrian region, Info-Prim Neo's correspondent in Tiraspol reports. The candidates began lodging applications with the local Central Election Commission. The Commission's chairman Piotr Denisenko said they expect a health competition. Unfortunately, some of the councilors try to influence the constitution of the electoral commissions. A part of the candidates started campaigning even if they have not been yet registered, Denisenko said. A number of 233 polling places will be set up in the Transnistrian region for the March 28 elections. The voters will choose the head of the Transnistrian state administration and members of the town and district councils and will cast three ballots. Denisenko also said that a mobile ballot box will be available for those who cannot go to the polling place. All the local electoral commissions were 50% renewed. Under the Transnistrian legislation, the candidates for members of the councils must be Transnistrian citizens older than 21 and must have lived in Transnistria for at least three years. As many as 388, 800 persons are eligible to vote in the region. Compared with 2009, the number of voters decreased by 5,000.
