The election campaign in Gagauzia is not honest because some of the candidates distribute calumnious information about other election runners, making use of the media channels that favor them, said candidate for the post of Governor Ruslan Garbaly. He has told IPN that a part of the media outlets are biased and take statements out of context in order to manipulate the people.

Ruslan Garbaly said among the priorities of his electoral platform are to depoliticize the Executive Committee and to solve a number of problems by taking measures in the economic sector. According to him, things as regards the region’s budget and expenditure should be brought in order and clear rules must be laid down in the entrepreneurial sector.

As regards the relations with the central authorities, the candidate said that Gagauzia, as an integral part of Moldova, always obeyed the laws of the state and keeping peace was a priority in this respect. The most important task is to keep this peace for all the ethnic groups of the country.

The first round of elections in Gagauzia will take place on March 22. The second round, if it’s necessary, will be held in April 5. Twelve candidates were registered initially as election runners. Oleg Kaiky withdrew from the race later. Recently, Serghei Buzadji asked being removed from the race, but his application is to be examined yet. The other ten candidates are: Valerii Ianioglo, Ruslan Garbaly, Nicolae Dudoglo, Irina Vlah, Oleg Garizan, Alexandru Stoianoglo, Serghei Chernev, Dumitru Croitor, Ilia Anastasov, and Leonid Dobrov.
