An 80-year-old woman from Isacova village of Orhei district died in a fire that destroyed her house. Allegedly, the fire was caused by the overheated oven where the woman baked bread.
Vladimir Druta, senior inspector of the Orhei Anti-Fire Division of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the fire happened in the morning of March 17. It is supposed that the fire started from the overheated oven. The woman probably smelt smoke and wanted to go out, but lost her consciousness. The body was found near the exit door.
The firefighters were called by neighbors. The fire was extinguished, but it destroyed the largest part of the house. Seven loaves of bread were found in the oven. According to villagers, the woman lived with her son, but he went to work abroad several days ago.
The 513 fires that happened in Moldova so far this year resulted in 55 deaths.
