Eight pairs went through to the final of the seventh national veterans tennis championship. The winners will become known on February 22, IPN reports.
The first five teams ranked last year qualified automatically. These are the current champions Vladimir Iampolschi – Ion Lambantu, and Viorel Galaju – Mihail Usatyi, Cheslav Ciuhrii – Igor Cuznetsov, Dumitru Bajura – Ion Borziac, and Vitalie Moscovciuc – Vladimir Petcov. Slavian Gutu - Andrei Porubin, Igor Lelenco – Igor Comarovschi, and Vladimir Lazarenco – David Gold also qualified for the final as a result of the qualifying rounds.
“The best teams will be able to take part in an international tournament that will be held in Chisinau in August. This tournament was included in the international circuit for the first time,” the president of the Association of Tennis Veterans and Amateurs of Moldova Slavian Gutu has told IPN.
The final games will be played at the sports club “Niagara”.
