Eight new public toilet facilities adjusted for persons with disabilities will be constructed in parks in Chisinau. A sum of 5 million lei was allocated from the municipal budget for the purpose, IPN reports.
In the April 22 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, Ion Burdiumov, head of the General Public Amenities Division, said the bidding process to choose the contractor that will perform the works was launched. It is planned that the facilities will be ready by the end of August.
The persons with disabilities could use the toilets free of charge. The others will pay a charge.
The old sanitary facilities in parks will be closed. “As they are situated inside parks, their upper part will be demolished and the rest will be covered with reinforced concrete. Bushes and flowers will be planted there,” stated Ion Burdiumov.
There are about 20 public toilet facilities in Chisinau, four of which are nonfunctional.
