Eight new mayors elected in Sunday's elections

The second round of new elections was held in eight Moldovan settlements on Sunday, May 30. All of the settlements elected their mayors. According to the Central Election Commission, the elections took place without serious deviations, Info-Prim Neo reports. The highest voter turnout was recorded in Beleavinti village of Briceni district (67.4%), while the lowest one in Carpineni village of Hancesti district (35.1%). Two of the eight elected mayors are representatives of the PLDM – Valeriu Poiata (Sangera, Chisinau municipality) and Ion Carpineanu (Carpineni, Hancesti), two represent the PDM – Pavel Codreanu (Rusestii Noi, Ialoveni) and Iacob Guja (Sestaci, Soldanesti), while another two are members of the PCRM – Grigore Cojocaru (Floresti) and Igor Palii (Ciolacu Nou, Falesti). The village Seliste of Orhei district will have a Liberal mayor - Vasile Scripnic. The independent candidate Ivan Tulbea won the elections in Beleavinti, Briceni. New elections were held in these settlements as the mayors there died or were convicted.
