Eight inspectors of the Leușeni-Albița customs station are due to stand trial for passive corruption.

The Prosecutor General's Office says in a press release that the illegal activity of the customs officers was documented over the course of 2018. According to the indictment, the value of goods received from individuals varies between 200 lei and 50 euros.

If found guilty, the eight customs inspectors risk a fine of up to two thousand conventional units and will be deprived of the right to hold certain positions or to perform certain activities for five years.
