Eggs’ sorting delayed

The Government delayed until November 7 the deadline for farmers to get technologies and tools to sort eggs in quality and weight categories. Initially, this was supposed to happen by the end of 2009, Info-Prim Neo reports. The reason this process was delayed is that crisis-stricken poultry farms owners didn’t have the necessary means to obtain required technologies. However, they should be able to improve their material resources, to prepare rooms and buy tools until November, according to Government’s decision. It’s estimated poultry farms will have to invest about 100 million euros. The sanitary regulations that require eggs to be sorted by quality and weigh are important for the local consumers and internal market, but mainly for future export in EU.
