The prices of eggs are projected to fall by about 20% in several weeks. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the director of the poultry breeder “Avicola Moldova” Ion Bazgu said that after the holidays the eggs do not sell so well. Furthermore, Lent starts soon. As the eggs have a shelf life of 21 days, the producers reduce the prices in order to sell them, Info-Prim Neo reports. Ion Railean, director of the SRL “RaiPlai” based in Tabani, Briceni, said that the producers now sell 10 eggs for 13 lei, but the price will decrease to 10 lei and even less after the holidays. Vitalie Ciobanu, head of the Agriculture Ministry’s Market Policy in Animal-Breeding Sector Division, said that the current price of eggs enables the producers to cover all their costs. The economic entities raise the prices depending on demand. At the market 10 eggs cost 15 - 16 lei, while in shops - 20-26 lei.
