A hailstorm hit the village of Camenca, Glodeni district, with hailstones described as being the size of a chicken egg. On Thursday afternoon the hail destroyed windows while the strong wind tore slate sheets off roofs.
Contacted by IPN, Radu Cărăuș, the secretary of Camenca Village Council, said that the hailstorm lasted only three minutes, but caused serious damage. A commission went on site to evaluate it.
The Council secretary also said that the village hasn’t yet recover after the June and July showers, when several roads were destroyed, including the main road.
Last night, heavy rainfall was also registered in the villages of Iabloana and Sturzovca, while the wind tore slate sheets from the roofs of several grain deposits in Burlăneși, Edineț rayon. It happened also in the neighboring town, Buzdugeni. Lucian Veras, engineer for land properties regulation in Burlănești, told IPN that the hail has also affected some cornfields.
The commissions for exceptional situations work on site to establish the damages caused.
