Efforts to reduce spread of HIV/AIDS in Moldova

The role of local authorities and non-governmental sector in support of women and young people will be discussed starting Monday, September 24, in a series of seminars in Ungheni, Balti and Orhei. Moldovan experts will talk about opportunities of employment and reintegration into society of socially vulnerable groups. According to a press release from the International Society for Human Rights - Moldovan Section, experts from Germany will take part in the seminars and will share invaluable experience of the non-governmental sector in providing services to people living with HIV/AIDS, as well as talk about the best practices in preventing spread of the virus. Participants will discuss how to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS in Moldova, as well as how to deal with stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV. "Only through effective cooperation between non-governmental organizations and local authorities it is possible to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and protect rights of people living with this diagnosis. One of the seminar objectives is to show that civil society can influence the decision-making process in the area of ​​HIV/AIDS policies. In general during the project 20 seminars will be held, "- said the project coordinator Liubov Nemchinova. Seminars take place in the framework of the project "Strengthening the Moldovan civil society in HIV/AIDS prevention and care for women and juvenile prisoners."
