Efforts continue to evacuate Moldovan citizens from Afghanistan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MAEIE) continues diplomatic efforts to evacuate Moldovan citizens under UN contracts from Afghanistan, with the help of the Romanian Air Force, a MAEIE press release informs.

MAEIE officials are in permanent contact with representatives of the Romanian Foreign Ministry in order to coordinate appropriate measures.

According to the MAEIE, due to the particularly difficult and dangerous security conditions in Kabul, it has not been possible so far for citizens to access the airport. The Romanian part informed that the Romanian Air Force aircraft will be stationed in the coming period in Islamabad, Pakistan, and when transit to the Kabul airport becomes possible, it will be ready to evacuate the citizens, including those from Moldova.

The Ministry reports that Moldovan citizens are currently safe.
