The incumbent World Bank country manager for Moldova, Edward Brown, whose term-in-office will soon expire, was decorated by Moldovan President with “Civic Merit” medal. According to the head of state, the medal was conferred on the WB official in recognition of the contribution he brought in the development of relations between Moldova and international financial organisations and for the support provided in the promotion of economic reforms.
According to a presidential press release, the event took place as part of a meeting of Vladimir Voronin with Paul Bermingham, Country Director for Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus.
During the meeting, Paul Bermingham introduced to the head of state the in-coming WB country manager for Moldova, Melanie Marlett, who will assume the office upon the expiry of Brown’s term in office.
Melanie Marlett affirmed she will do her best to contribute to furthering cooperation of this financial institution with Moldova.
Vladimir Voronin gave assurances to the in-coming WB country manager that the authorities will provide support in her activity.
Melanie Marlett will replace Edward Brown, who has run the WB Office in Chisinau since July 1, 2003.
