It is important that the education system in Chisinau makes the necessary changes so that it can prepare the children for the world outside the classrooms. The municipal education system must understand and accept the skills of the 21st century in the formal, non-formal and informal framework, stated Deputy Mayor Angela Cutasevici in opening the “21st Century Skills” Chisinau Teachers Forum.

“The pedagogy of the 21st century is the pedagogy of competences. These will be the key topics we will discuss during the three thematic days of the forum. Modern education aims at the conscious development of man’s biopsychic potential and the formation of a type of personality required by the current conditions and perspectives of society”, stated the deputy mayor.

Andrei Pavaloi, deputy head of the General Directorate of Education, noted that about six thousand teachers will participate in the more than 50 thematic workshops planned during the three days of the forum. There will be training sessions held by specialists from the country and abroad. “Today it starts with the management of non-formal education, and tomorrow we will have a rather important training session for curriculum management. And on August 24 we will address institutional management. On August 25, during the plenary session, we will take stock of the past academic year”, said Andrei Pavaloi.

The “21st Century Skills” Chisinau Teachers Forum is organized by the General Directorate of Education, Youth and Sports during August 22-25. National and international specialists participate in the workshops.
