The Ministry of Education put forward a legislative initiative providing that the managers of public education institutions will be selected exclusively by contest. The posts occupied by managers named by orders will be declared vacant when the law comes into force, IPN reports.
Contests will be held to fill the vacancies. Only the candidates who will meet the requirements will be able to take part in them. According to the Ministry, 45% of the current managers of education institutions weren’t named by contest.
The law is to take effect in 30 days of the publication date. It aims to improve the quality of management in education institutions and to ensure equity for all the education institution managers.
Earlier, Minister of Education Maia Sandu said a new contest should be announced to fill the post of school principal once in five years.
