The fourth and ninth graders could be freed from primary stage and secondary stage graduation exams, while the Baccalaureate exams for twelfth graders could be put off for several weeks. The Ministry of Education, Culture and Research is to submit such proposals to the Commission for Exceptional Situations, IPN reports.

Minister of Education Igor Sharov told a press briefing that the annulment of the national testing for fourth graders will not cause difficulties in the completion of the primary stage.

As to the students that are to complete the ninth grade, these will be issued with certificates based on the grades obtained during the years of study. The grades in the exam disciplines will be the average grade of the annual average grades got by students in the seventh-ninth grades. Based on these certificates, the students could take part in admission to theoretical lyceums and vocational schools.

Igor Sharov said the Ministry will take a definitive decision as to the Baccalaureate exams when the day the access to education institutions will be allowed is known. But the main option is to postpone the exams until the end of June or the start of July, if the pandemic crisis is overcome.
