The students who finished the ninth grade and have diplomas of the first, second and third levels in the subjects in which they specialize, in national and international Olympiads organized and recognized by the Ministry of Education will be able to enroll at high school on a contest-free basis. Such a legislative initiative was put forward by the Ministry of Education, IPN reports.

Under the regulations proposed by the Ministry, the state high schools will allot 10% of the total number of places, without contest, for the following categories of students: orphans and children who remained without parental care; children from families with three children and more; children whose parents were killed in the war for defending the integrity and territorial independence of Moldova; children with physical and sensory disabilities, etc.

The classes of the tenth-twelfth grades will be opened in strict compliance with the current norms, with at least two tenth grade classes with the number of students set by the Ministry of Education. The admission contest will be based on the annual average grades from the secondary school certificate and on the grades in the ninth grade graduation exams. If more candidates have the same score, they will be selected according to a number of criteria. Priority in the exact sciences classes will be given to children who won diplomas at national, district/municipal school contests in such subjects as math, biology, physics, chemistry, and informatics.

In the humanities classes, there will be taken into account the diplomas won at national, district/municipal school contests in such subjects as the language of study, the Romanian language and literature, the foreign language, history, and geography. In the arts and sport classes, priority will be given to the grades in the aptitude tests and the annual grades in the specialization subjects got in the tenth-twelfth grades.

The regulations provide that all the admitted candidates will enroll only in the tenth grade at the high school, in the classes of their specialization. The candidates who will be absent from high school for at most 15 days of the start of the school year and will not present documents justifying the absences will be expelled.

The vacancies will be filled with the next candidates on the list, based on the average contest grades in descending order.
