The implementation of the Education Code is the top priority in the Ministry of Education’s agenda for this year. More than 30 regulations and normative documents are to be drawn up for the purpose. The Ministry also aims to attract and keep the best professionals in the education system, IPN reports.

In a news conference on March 17, Minister of Education Maia Sandu said that in order to ensure transparency in the education system and to avoid conflicts of interests, there will be created such institutions as the Ethics Council in higher education, the Administration Board, and the Students Board. The Ministry also aims to ensure the functionality of three basic institutions: the National Quality Assurance Agency in Vocational Education, the National School Inspectorate, and the National Agency for Curriculum and Assessment.

Maia Sandu stated that the regulations for ensuring the functioning of the National Quality Assurance Agency in Vocational Education were drafted and submitted to the Government for approval. A contest will be soon announced to select the management of the National School Inspectorate, whose functioning was authorized by the Government in 2014. The Inspectorate will assess the education process in general education institutions.

Another priority of the Ministry for the immediate period is to improve the quality of the human resources in education. The teachers in the future could be remunerated based on performance. A new remuneration system started to be designed in this respect. The modernization of curriculum is another priority. The reference framework for reviewing the curriculum in general education will be soon presented for public debates.
