The Ministry of Education will consider the possibility of providing financial resources for financing the studying of the mother tongue by the national minorities in the kindergartens and schools of Gagauzia.
The press service of Gagauzia’s Executive Committee has told IPN’s reporter that the measure covers the Gagauz, Bulgarian and Ukrainian languages that are studied in all the education institutions of the region as native languages.
The information about the possible financial support from the Government was communicated by Gagauzia’s General Education Division head Vera Balova in a working meeting of the Executive Committee. According to her, the given matter was discussed by representatives of the Division and functionaries of the Ministry of Education.
“The officials of the Ministry didn’t know that the mother tongue is studied in our preschool education institutions. In this period, we had to look for own financial resources,” said Balova.
She also said that the Ministry of Education supported the initiative to open the first Gagauz teaching school in the autonomous unit. The Turkish authorities expressed readiness to finance the creation of such a school.
