The Ministry of Education and Research has announced the launch of the first package of measures to debureaucratize the education system. This envisions the suspension of the external assessment of educational institutions as from January 1, 2024 and the simplification of the standard school documents and reports nomenclature, IPN reports.

Minister Dan Perciun told a news conference that the excessive paperwork in education takes a lot of time and reduces the time the teachers can devote to work with students. This way, a moratorium on external inspections that seldom produce the expected results will be imposed for a year, as from January 1, 2024.

According to the minister, the nomenclature of standard documents and reports in general education will be simplified and the number of required documents will be significantly decreased. The method of approving and examining these will be modified. Also, by the end of this year the Ministry of Education will approve the long-term teaching plan.

Valentina Olaru, secretary of state of the Ministry of Education, said that in the case of long-term projects, the approval of these by the director or vice director of the school is excluded. The teacher will design the own long-term project and will present this to the methodological commission for approval. At the second debureaucratization stage, the Ministry aims to ensure the daily projects are designed in a centralized way and are made available to all the teachers.

The semester or annual statistical report on the school subject and the obligation to present evidence of work as class teacher are excluded, as are the minutes of meetings with parents. The student files will be in electronic form. The records of teachings aids in schoolrooms  and the alphabetic register of students will no longer be mandatory.
