Education Ministry has accepted offers from 39 children’s summer camps

The children aged between 7 and 16 that come from low-income, numerous, one-parent families and families in which both of the parents are disabled as well as the children that are under guardianship benefit from free tickets to Moldovan summer camps. A number of 20,107 tickets worth 19,872.200 lei have been purchased from the money allocated from the state budget for organizing the children’s 2008 summer vacation. The price of the tickets varies between 605 lei and 1,100 lei, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Ministry of Social Protection, Family and Child. Viorica Dumbraveanu, division head at the Ministry, said that 55% of the total number of tickets are distributed through the agency of district social assistance and family protection sections ad through the Minors Protection Division of the Chisinau municipality. According to the quoted source, 5% of the tickets are offered to children that achieved good results at school or are winners of Olympiads. 45% of the tickets purchased by the Ministry are shared out by the National Confederation of Trade Unions through national zonal trade union centers, trade union organizations and economic units. In order to ensure the functionality and transparency of the process, the Ministry of Social Protection, Family and Child created the commission for organizing the free time and rest of the children in summer. The commission approved the criteria for assessing the technical-material basis of the summer camps and the timetable of inspections at the 55 summer camps whose offers have been accepted. After inspecting the summer camps and analyzing the offers, the commission accepted to sign contracts with 39 camps from different regions of the country. The offers of 10 summer camps were rejected, while six camps withdrew the offers. The summer camps opened on June 10, 2008 and will close on August 20, 2008.
