Education minister: We will make sure education institutions do not engage in politics

The education institution heads who will commit violations stemming from reasons related to the political affiliation will be reprimanded or even dismissed, said Minister of Education Leonid Bujor, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. “We will make sure that the education institutions of all levels do not engage in politics,” the minister said. The statement comes after a number of rectors of Moldovan universities joined political organizations. Leonid Bujor expressed his surprise at the rectors' decision, but said that every person has the right to decide whether to engage in politics of nor and whether to join a party or not. Under the legislation, the education establishments must be nonpolitical. On July 1, nine rectors of the most important Moldovan universities joined the extraterritorial organization of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova.
