The General Division of Education, Youth and Sport will file an application to the Chisinau City Hall, demanding that it ask the central authorities to partly finance the private pre-university education institutions working in the capital city from the state budget. The subject was discussed at the meeting of the Division’s Administration Board, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We must insist so that we ultimately achieve results,” said Tamara Curtescu, head of the Pre-university Management Section. The head of the Education, Youth and Sport Division of Rascani district Andrei Grosu considers that the private schools always bring something new. “All over the world, these schools are financed from the state budget. In a near future, we must identify solutions so that the costs for at least a student are covered by the state in our country.” Ghenadie Danita, principal of the Chisinau private high school “Columna”, said that the general impression that the private education institutions have enough financial resources is not true. “We encounter great difficulties,” he said. The fee paid by a student for a year of studies is not much higher than that paid in a state institution. The competition between these two types of institutions is stiff and government resources are needed in order to keep pace, the principal added. The meeting participants were familiarized with the results of an inspection carried out at these institutions. Tamara Curtescu said that all the inspected private schools have a license, except “Constelatie” high school, which submitted the necessary documents to the Ministry of Education and Youth, but they have not been examined yet. Over 20 private pre-university education institutions work in the municipality of Chisinau at present.
