The leader of the Social Democrat Party (PSDM) Eduard Musuc was released from arrest Tuesday November 14. The panel of judges of the Buicuni District Court decided to replace the custody with the obligation not to leave the country. The court made this decision as a result of a petition submitted by the lawyers of Musuc. Eduard Musuc’s lawyer, Alexandru Tanase told Info-Prim Neo that there were no reasons for keeping his client in custody. He qualified the decision as correct and legal and said that it was made by a panel of judges worthy of respect. On September 28, 2006, the Buiucani District Court issued a 10 day warrant for the arrest of Eduard Musuc, at the request of the Center for Combating Economic Crime and Corruption. Eduard Musuc and his father, Ion Musuc are accused of taking illegally into property a building located on Alba Iulia 77, which belongs to JSC “Mold Itel”. Ion Musuc was recently announced wanted by police. On October 11, the Court of Appeal set free Eduard Musuc the deputy chairman of the Social Democrat Party (PSDM) under a bail of MDL 2 mln, the maximum sum admitted by the legislation of the Republic of Moldova. Because his relatives did not manage to collect this sum, Musuc remained in custody. Eduard Musuc and PSDM consider that these accusations were forged at the order of the communist government.
