Eduard Musuc voted out of office

Eduard Musuc has been dismissed Friday from the office of the chairman of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), as 30 councilors voted secretly for his ousting. Eight councilors voted against, as two ballots are stated void, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Social Democratic faction including Eduard Musuc did not attend the voting. The initiative to oust the CMC chairman was voiced by leader of the Liberal Democratic faction Alexandru Tanase. Immediately after the vote, Eduard Musuc thanked the councilors for their work and said he hoped the new chair will run the sessions better. The councilors will meet on February 17 to discuss the election of a new chairman. Eduard Musuc was elected to chair the CMC's sessions on June 6, 2008, with the votes of 27 councilors from PCRM, PPCD and PSD. He had replaced in that office Liberal Party leader Mihai Ghimpu.
