Chairman of the Chisinau Council (CMC) Eduard Musuc, held a news conference on Friday, December 5, at which he advised three media organizations how to plan their editorial policies, Info-Prim Neo reports. Pro TV Chisinau aired an interview with Eduard Musuc, who said that his father was in Moldova since half a year before. Musuc insisted on having come to the conference not as a CMC chairman or a secretary of the Social Democratic Party, but to call on some politicians “from the democratic group” not to attack him and his family. He has not specified names, but he gave hints that it was about the politicians from the Liberal and the Liberal Democratic Parties. In particular, Musuc said ProTV did not have to place the interview about his father as the first news story, and he described the material as an “attack” and “intoxications of the public opinion”. “This attack was inspired by a political party. It appeared on the first page of Jurnal de Chisinau, as the first news stories on ProTV and immediately on Unimedia (info portal – n.r.). I ask for the right to reply,” Eduard Musuc said. Musuc avoided saying where his father had been since 2006, but he specified that his father had returned to Moldova before he was elected as a CMC president on June 6. After his appointment as a CMC chairman, the Communist Government prefers Eduard Musuc to the liberal mayor Dorin Chirtoaca to discuss administrative issues with. In 2006, Eduard Musuc was arrested by the police in his own apartment, being probed under the accusation of fund embezzlement. After the Communist authorities withdrew the license of his his telecommunications company, in March, 2004, Eduard Musuc stated: “There is no law in our country. The law is Vladimir Voronin”.
