A man from Parcova village, Edineț district, has been charged with human trafficking and illegal possession of firearms, IPN learned from the General Police Inspectorate.
The man is suspected of recruiting people to work on his cattle form before trapping them in forced labor, keeping them in inhumane conditions, beating them or even threatening them with death.
After searching his property, the police discovered two illegally held hunting weapons and ammunition, in addition to a significant amount of what appears to be contraband cigarettes.
The suspect, who has been released on bail pending trial, faces up to 3 years in prison on the illegal arms charge, plus 6 to 12 years in prison on the human trafficking charge.
