The local council of Edinet town is not working because some of the councilors do not attend the meetings. As a result, about 1,000 residents cannot obtain documents for the realty they own as the cadastral office does not register property without a relevant decision of the council.

Resident Olga V. (the name was changed) has told IPN that she cannot sell her possessions because the cadastral workers did not form the realty, the given works being paid by the local public authorities.

At the local cadastral office, the woman was told that the works to form the realty are carried out for all the neighbors living in a yard, not for one person separately. They include measuring and registering the property. As Olga V. intends to sell her possessions immediately, the cadastral workers advised her to pay about 5,000 lei for the works for all the neighbors.

The IPN’s inquiry to the state-run company “Cadastre” was answered by consultant Tatiana Iurcu. She said the formation works cannot cost so much. The local authorities work out a technical inventorying and property cartography plan and cover the costs incurred for implementing it themselves.

Deputy mayor of Edinet Valerian Ciobanu has told IPN that such works are paid by the mayor’s office in accordance with an agreed plan, but the local council has not worked since last year and the geometric plan of the formed possessions, presented by the cadastral workers, cannot be approved. After this plan is approved, the property can be registered at the cadastral office.

In Edinet, many residents bought the privatized houses long ago. “There are persons who have ownership documents, but the property is not registered at the cadastral office. The problem appears namely when they want to sell,” said the deputy mayor.

Tatiana Iurcu said the people who face problems related to the registration of real estate can use the trust line of “Cadastre” – 022 88 10 17.
