Economy Ministry to monitor formation of prices of main food products

Prime Minister Vlad Filat recommended Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar to make sure that all the available mechanisms are applied to monitor the formation of prices of the main food products and services. The suggestion was made in the opening of the May 16 meeting of the Cabinet, when the Prime Minister set out several immediate tasks of the executive. Vlad Filat said the Ministry of Economy must identify solutions to monitor this process instead of shifting the responsibility onto the Government or ministries and other governmental institutions. The Premier recommended the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry's Public Property Agency to ensure transparency in their activity and to publish the list of members of the administration boards of state-owned companies and companies in which the state owns holdings on their websites. Vlad Filat instructed completing drafting the bill concerning the salary of managers of state-run companies. The size of the salary of these persons will depend on the performance of the company.
