The investor that bought two hectares of land in Chisinau for 70 million lei is the Romanian company “Buicani Real Estate Holding”, the Ministry of Economy and Trade said on October 18. In a communiqué, the Ministry says that the company won the commercial contest for the privatization of the plot designed for construction. The lot is located on 17 Decebal Boulevard and is about 1.9 hectares in area. The winner was selected by the Contest Commission for Public Property Privatization that is composed of representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Trade, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Health, the Public Property Agency, the Agency for Land Relations and Cadastre, the Agency for Construction and Territorial Development etc. The commission was set up by a Government Decision of August 14, 2007. The commercial contest was announced by the Public Property Agency of the Economy Ministry. It was scheduled for August 28 and September 2007. The contest conditions were published in the Official Gazette of Moldova on August 28, 2007. On October 17, the Government approved a decision to demolish an old building located on the abovementioned address so as to clear the land asked by the investor. According to Minister of Economy and Trade Igor Dodon, no one offered yet such a good price for the municipal land. The building will be demolished by the investor at a cost of about 2 mln lei. The Government decided that the demolition works should be carried out by the subdivisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and not by a private company. On October 18, the Moldovan sites published opinions according to which the auction was rigged by the former mayor of Chisinau Vasile Ursu. In all probability, the communiqué from the Ministry was intended to refute the given statements.
