Economy Ministry decreases economic growth forecast for 2012 to 4%

Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar announced the new macroeconomic forecasts that were discussed with a mission of the International Monetary Fund that is in Chisinau. The new economic growth forecast for 2011 is 6.5%. For 2012, the forecast was decreased to 4% in line with the projected trends in the global and regional economy, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We need solutions and alternative policy proposals not only the ascertaining of certain facts and situations. We want to work out realistic economic policies, not sandcastles. That’s why we need proposals on the part of civil society and independent experts,” Valeriu Lazar said during the launch of the second publication “Trends in Moldova’s Economy”.
The minister announced that the degree of covering imports with exports is increasing, the growth this year being an absolute record in the history of independent Moldova. Valeriu Lazar said the 18% rise in the volume of investments in fixed capital will enable to quicker recover from the crisis.
The publication is produced by experts of the Institute of Economy, Finance and Statistics of the Ministry of Economy with support from the EU and UNDP. The Institute of Economy, Finance and Statistics is a public center dealing with researches in economy, the financial sector, the social sphere, and statistics and in formulating the analytical base of reforms.
