Economics and Law still most demanded majors

Economics, Law, and Medicine remain the most demanded majors, even in the second stage of admissions to higher education institutions, for the session of 2012, reports Info-Prim Neo, quoting a communique from the Ministry of Education. According to the Ministry’s press service, the least demanded major is Education. The top three universities, by number of applicants relative to the number enrolled, are the Academy of Economic Studies, the “N. Testemitanu” State Medicine and Pharmacy University, the State University, and at the bottom of the list are the State Physical Education and Sports University, the State University from Tiraspol, the Academy of Music, Theater and Plastic Arts. 526 tuition-free places and 4,229 full-tuition places were offered for the second phase of Admissions 2012. After this phase, 1,587 places in higher education institutions remain vacant, including 77 tuition-free places. Private institutions have 462 vacant places. The admission plan for the first undergrad year covers 6,745 tuition-free full-time places and 13,920 full-tuition places. In the same context, the admission plan for graduate studies covered 7,965 places, including 3,410 tuition-free ones. There are 17 state-funded higher education institutions, and 13 private ones.
