Premier Energy proposes reducing electricity charge by 0.16 lei
Premier Energy asked the National Agency for Energy Regulation to consider the opportunity of reducing the electricity charge by 0.16 lei for end users connected to low-voltage power lines.
First transaction with state bonds concluded on Moldova Stock Exchange
For the first time on the Moldova Stock Exchange, a transaction with state bonds was performed, marking this way a significant moment in the development of the national financial market. The Ministry of Finance said the acceptance of transactions with state bonds on the Moldova Stock Exchange was announced in May 2023.
Base rate and required reserves ratio in lei and foreign currency decreased
The Executive Board of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) on Tuesday decided to decrease the base rate applied to the main short-term monetary policy operations to 4.75 percent annually and the interest rates on overnight loans and deposits to 6.75 percent and 2.75 percent, respectively.
Annual inflation rate dropped to 8.6% in September
The annual rate of inflation dropped to 8.6% in September from 13.2% in June. The National Bank of Moldova anticipates it will fall below the upper limit of the target variation range in the fourth quarter of 2023 and will remain close to the target, albeit below it, in the next eight quarters.
Average annual inflation in the third quarter of 2023 was 9.7%, 0.5 percentage points above the forecast. According to the NBM, the deviation was mainly caused by the delay in the reduction of tariffs for natural gas and thermal energy, as well as the unexpected increase in oil prices.

Clearer rules concerning footwear labeling
The labels put on footwear on sale can be in written form or in the form of a pictogram, but should be visible, well-applied and accessible. The label should be imprinted or applied on the footwear item and should appear on at least one of the elements that comprise the pair of shoes. The new rules concerning labeling of materials used to make footwear were approved by the Cabinet on Wednesday.
Moldova borrows money to rehabilitate Chisinau belt road and Dubăsari-Chisinau-Leușeni road
A part of the Chisinau belt road and the Dubăsari-Chisinau-Leușeni road will be rehabilitated. The Cabinet approved the initiation of negotiations on the loan agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on the implementation of the Moldova Roads Rehabilitation V program.
Public authorities could also open regular passenger routes
Increased flexibility will be ensured on the bus services market. From now on, the local public authorities will be able to decide to open or modify regular passenger routes. Mircea Păscăluță, secretary of state of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Reginald Development, said there are tens of situations when the people and the mayors ask the central authorities to open new routes. But the limitations on opening new routes and the limitations that existed until now didn’t allow this to happen.

Germany to invest €5m in energy efficiency projects in Moldova
The Government of Germany during the next three years will invest €5 million in energy efficiency projects in the Republic of Moldova and will strengthen the capacities of the Ministry of Energy and the Energy Efficiency Agency that will be reorganized into the National Center for Sustainable Energy. The financial resources will be allocated through the agency of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ Moldova).
Final vote in favor of simplification of procedures for developing renewable energy project
Parliament gave a final reading to a bill that harmonizes the national legislation with the EU’s legislation on renewable sources of energy. The document regulates aspects related to the introduction of the Government’s obligation to set the national sector target for 2030. The Republic of Moldova aims to ensure that not less than 30% of the consumed electricity is produced from renewable energy, up from the current figure of 6%. On the occasion of the adoption of the law, the Director of the Energy Community Secretariat Artur Lorkovski is paying a visit to the Republic of Moldova.
ANRE to consider lowering electricity tariffs on Friday
The National Agency for Energy Regulation ANRE will examine on Friday regulated electiricty tariffs following requests by two suppliers.
Premier Energy has proposed to cut its electricity tariff by 0.16 leu for consumers connected to low voltage distribution networks. The households powered by Premier Energy currently pay 2.57 lei/kWh. The proposed tariff is 2.41 lei/kWh (VAT excluded).

Electricity charges decreased
The electric power charges were lowered. The consumers powered by Premier Energy will pay a charge of 2.39 lei/kWh (without VAT), down from 2.57 lei/kWh at present. The customers served by FEE Nord will pay 2.88 lei/kWh (without VAT), as opposed to 3.20 lei/kWh at the moment. The new charges were approved on Friday by the National Agency for Energy Regulation based on requests made by the two suppliers.

Heating sector will integrate renewable energy sources in a few years, discussions
By 2030, an efficient district heating system should produce more than 75% of heating based on cogeneration, and at least 50% of heating should come from renewable sources. These are provisions contained in the European directives that Moldova has transposed. Home and office heating solutions in the context of the decarbonization agenda and the achievement of zero-carbon climate neutrality by 2050 were discussed during a workshop by the Ministry of Energy with the International Renewable Energy Agency and the Secretariat of the Energy Community.
