Italian company LEONEVA opened fruit processing plant in Căinari
The Italian company LEONEVA opened its first fruit processing plant in the Republic of Moldova. Located in the town of Căinari, the Italian business has generated about 25 new jobs and will yet create more jobs. The company’s founder, Leone Piero Antonio, who has been in Moldova since 2020, already managed to process and export more than 3,500 tonnes of fruits.
Train trips to Iasi getting more expensive
Starting on May 10, fares for the daily Chisinau-Iasi/Socola train will increase. Depending on class, tickets will get by 20 to 40 lei more expensive.
According to Moldova Railways, the price for a ticket will be as follows: - 110 lei for third class, compared to 90 lei at present.

World Bank approves $105.98 million financing package to Moldova
The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors approved a $105.98 million financing package to the Republic of Moldova for the Moldova Rural Connectivity Project (MRCP), which will support the country to improve climate-resilient road connectivity in rural communities, enhance road transit through border crossings with Romania and respond promptly and more effectively to crises and emergencies. MRCP will finance the rehabilitation and upgrading of approximately 95 km of three priority local roads.
Average MTPL insurance last year was 18,000 lei
Last year, the average internal motor third party liability (MTPL) insurance was 18,682 lei/unit, by about 2,000 lei or 12% more than in 2022. For Green Card insurance, the average insurance was 74,424 lei/unit, by about 5,000 lei or 7% more than in 2022.
Moldova gains right to export fresh and frozen poultry to EU
In addition to processed poultry meat, Moldovan economic agents will be able to export fresh and frozen poultry meat to the EU market. Prime Minister Dorin Recean informed about the obtaining of this right at the beginning of today’s meeting of the Cabinet.
Third Moldova-Romania interconnection power line to be built
The third high-voltage power line that will interconnect Moldova’s energy system with Romania’s will start to be built at the end of 2025. It is a 400 kV line that will connect Straseni (Moldova) and Gutinas (Romania) power stations, with a length of 190 kilometers. The agreement for the construction of the Moldovan portion was signed today in Straseni by the Ministry of Energy and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Victor Parlicov: We are moving to stage when we will have many gas suppliers and many different prices
The Republic of Moldova is entering a period when there will be more gas suppliers and different prices for consumers, said Minister of Energy Victor Parlicov. According to him, Moldova no longer depends on the gas provided by Gazprom and the free market offers lower gas prices to citizens. For May, Energocom managed to buy gas from the international market at a lower price than the price offered by the Russian company.
Gas charges will be lower from May 3
Household consumers and some of the non-household consumers connected to low-pressure gas networks will pay for gas a charge of 12,154 lei per thousand cubic meters (12.1 lei/m3) or by 1,244 lei for one thousand cubic meters less than now. The charge was approved on Thursday by the Administration Board of the National Agency for Energy Regulation and is slightly lower than the charge of 12,200 lei per thousand cubic meters proposed by Moldovagaz.

Fuels will cost less during May 4-7
A liter of gasoline COR 95 during May 4-7 will cost at most 26.17 lei, by 0.08 lei less than today, while a liter of standard diesel fuel will be sold for 21.23 lei/liter, by 0.05 lei less. The National Agency for Energy Regulation said that after a period of decline in the price of diesel fuel, this week the retail price of gasoline also started to decrease at filling stations.
IMF: Recovery of Moldovan economy has been slower than expected

Migration most prevalent in 25-34 age group
