Business entities will be taxed according to weight of packaging on market, not per unit


The business entities that generate packaging waste will pay a pollution tax for the weight of packing, not per unit of packing as now. Also, the entrepreneurs who will gather and recycle packaging waste will benefit from exemption depending on the achieved targets. This is provided in a bill that was proposed for public consultations by the Parliament’s environment commission.

Over 21,000 tonnes of wheat to be released from state reserves

The Material Reserves Agency managed by the Ministry of Home Affairs has announced a contest to choose end beneficiaries to whom over 21 tonnes of wheat will be released from the state reserves for renewing the reserves.

State Tax Service chief: We anticipate 10% rise in amounts accumulated as taxes this year


The amounts collected as taxes and excises by the State Tax Service this year are projected to be by 10% higher than last year, said the Service’s head Petru Rotaru. According to him, until the end of this year the institution is to collect about 60 billion lei from the citizens and business entities.

SA Energocom repaid €35 million of the first tranche of the loan taken out from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) last year, which was to be repaid by May 1. The first tranche of €100 million is to be repaid by July 1.

€76m loan from French Government for railroad infrastructure

The Government of Moldova opens negotiations on the draft financial protocol with the Government of France on the financing of the Chisinau – Ungheni railway infrastructure modernization project. Under the protocol, the Government of France will provide a sum of €75.77 million to improve the railroad infrastructure on the given section.

Priory treatment at customs post for authorized economic operators

The business entities that will obtain the status of authorized economic operator (AEO) will benefit from abridged examinations at customs posts and priority treatment on clearance and transport checks.

The Government approved a bill to ratify the Decision taken by the Republic of Moldova – EU Customs Subcommittee in Brussels on October 3, 2022, concerning the mutual recognition of authorized economic operators programs, IPN reports.

100% of periodic reports from licensed banks submitted electronically to NBM

One hundred percent of the periodic reports from the licensed banks are submitted to the National Bank of Moldova in digital format, through the SIRBNM system. From July 1, the number of entities to report to the NBM will grow to about 500, as the central bank becomes responsible for supervising the non-banking financial sector as well, stated Eugeniu Aftene, director of Reporting and Statistics at NBM, during a public relations event on Wednesday.

Fly One airline has announced its intention to increase its fleet with which it will operate flights from the Republic of Moldova.

“During the summer season, Fly One will operate flights from Chisinau to/from 29 destinations, namely: Larnaca, Valencia, Berlin, Madrid, Tbilisi, Roma, Milan, Munich, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Tel Aviv, London (Luton & Stansted), Parma, Verona, Dublin, Lisbon, Paris, Istanbul, Erevan, Brussels, Dusseldorf, Nice, Barcelona, Antalya, Heraklion, Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada, Tivat, Tirana,” the company said in a press release.

IMF: Moldova can immediately access about US$96 million

The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) concluded the third review under the 40-month Extended Credit Facility (ECF) and Extended Fund Facility (EFF) arrangements for the Republic of Moldova. This allows for the immediate disbursement of SDR 70.95 million (about US$96 million), usable for budget support, and brings Moldova’s total disbursements under the blended ECF/EFF arrangements to SDR 277.55 million (about US$371 million).

Energocom to purchase 290,000 MWh from MGRES in May


SA Energocom for next month will buy 290,000 MWh from the MGRES power plant (Kuchurgan) of the Transnistrian region. This is 92% of the necessary amount. The price is US$66 per MWh, which was agreed last month for a period of six months.

Moldova’s economy will offset loss witnessed last year, “Expert-Grup” forecast

The economy of the Republic of Moldova will recover in 2023 and will offset the loss sustained last year due to the experienced multiple crises. The main scenario of the current forecast is based on a 4.7% economic growth in 2023 and on subsequent growths (5.4% in 2024 and a growth corridor of 4-5% in 2025-2027). The forecasts are presented in the 24th edition of the publication MEGA - Moldova Economic Growth Analysis - that is produced by the Independent Think Tank “Expert-Grup”.

Air Moldova accuses commercial bank of financial constraints and pushing it towards bankruptcy

Air Moldova airline says that it is ready to clear its debts to the providers and to fulfill its obligations to the passengers, but the financial problems it experiences now are due to the actions of a commercial bank that blocked a sum of 150 million lei. This money can help the company to pay the service providers so as not to daily cancel flights, to increase its fleet and to work without constrains. The bank’s actions seem to be aimed at pushing the airline towards bankruptcy, IPN reports, with reference to a press release of Air Moldova.

Air Moldova penalized for reimbursement of money following cancelled flights
