ECHR will examine another case against Moldova

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) will examine the case “Castravet vs Moldova” on Tuesday, March 13. The plaintiff, Andrei Castraveţ, relies on Article 5 (right to liberty and security) of the Convention of Human Rights. Castravet complains about his detention on remand following his arrest on charges of embezzlement in May 2005 and that he was unable to confer in private with his lawyers. The Moldovan Government was condemned in Strasbourg in over 50 cases so far and was obliged to pay over EUR 700,000 (more than MDL 10 mln).
