The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) decided not to accept the application submitted by the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) and its leader Vlad Filat, by which they challenged the Constitutional Court’s decision of April 2013, whereby Vlad Filat was banned from applying for the post of Prime Minister following his dismissal by Parliament on corruption charges, IPN reports.
In a communiqué, the PLDM says they submitted an application to the ECHR at the suggestion of lawyers, but the Court rejected it without returning a verdict. “Such decisions are taken by the ECHR in about 99% of the complaints coming from Moldova,” it is said in the communiqué.
The Liberal Democratic Party also says that it didn’t agree with the Constitutional Court’s decision of April 2013. But, owing to the then specific political context, it complied with this political decision.
