The draft ratification bill for a loan agreement between the Moldovan government and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has been approved in first reading. Under the agreement, Moldova will receive a €300 million euros loan from the EBRD to implement the “Security of gas supply” Project.
The loan will be disbursed in two installments of €100 million and €200 million euros. The money will be used to create strategic natural gas stocks and to diversify supply sources.
The measure is expected to reduce the risks of possible limitations or cuts in gas supplies in the context of the political situation and the evolution of energy markets in the region.
