The decorative illuminations in the square of the Metropolitan Cathedral “God’s Birth” in Chisinau cost the City Hall 40,000 lei. This sum does not yet include the costs for the decorative lighting of churches, which will be calculated later. Employees of the municipal company “Lumteh” said the result was worth the cost as the people are satisfied, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Lumteh” head Nicolae Vereshko Monday said the Easter bunnies, eggs and other decorations set up in the Cathedral’s square were rented from Romania. Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said the decorative lights were a surprise for him as he found out about them in the last moment. “They invited me to the official switching on of the lights at Saint Nicolae Church, Saint Trinity Church and in the square. I thank them. They did very nice things,” he stated. The Easter lighting will be turned on again on Low Sunday. All the cemeteries in Chisinau will be lit on Low Sunday, April 22 and 23. The authorities also aim to install decorative lighting at the architectural monuments of Chisinau by the City’s Day. The companies based on the main arteries of the capital city will be invited to become involved in the activity.
