There are a lot of people at the Easter fair staged in the center of Chisinau. Even if it is a workday, there are many buyers who chose both national products and imported ones that are more expensive. The Easter bread with cheese and the small cakes are in great demand, IPN reports.
Some of the buyers said they came to the fair because the products here are fresher and cheaper than in stores and at the market. Others complained that the prices are higher compared with the previous years and they will have to spend their entire salary on the Easter meal.
The sellers exhibited a wide range of products, from bakery products to plates, dishes and towels. However, some buy only Easter bread, cakes and eggs. “I work and do not have time to bake. Thus, I came to buy the products I need. But I purchased only the most necessary Easter products so as to save money,” said a woman. Another woman said she came to buy eggs and will bake bread and cakes at home.
The vendors are satisfied and approve of the City Hall’s idea of mounting an Easter fair. They said that all the products are fresh because they do not stay long on shelves.
The Easter bread at the fair costs between 5 and 115 lei, while the cakes between 40 and 70 lei.
This year the Easter fair was set up in the park near the Metropolitan Cathedral. It involves 103 selling companies, 52 of which are national.
