East Europe Foundation offers grants for 2011 elections

The East Europe Foundation (EEF) announced a grant competition dedicated to the 2011 elections. According to a EEF press release, the program is meant to support civil society in promoting free and fair elections in Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The funding will range from 3,000 to 700,000 lei and will be offered for initiatives of increasing citizen activism, especially in communities with low turnout rates. Initiatives of monitoring and observing local elections, as well as those promoting the participation of youth, women and social disadvantaged groups, will be encouraged.
The types of activities eligible for grants include local or national debates and trainings, campaigns of raising civic awareness and rallying voters, mass media monitoring and independent observation of elections, etc.
The deadline for applications is March 21. The grants are offered with the support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), Denmark’s Foreign Ministry/DANIDA and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through Eurasia Foundation.
