The Government has approved the ratification of the Third Additional Protocol to the European Convention on Extradition, signed by Moldova in April 2013.
Justice Minister Vladimir Cebotari said the Protocol provides a simplified extradition procedures, which will only apply to people consenting to their extradition to the requesting state.
The extradited person will enjoy all the procedural guarantees provided by the legislation of both countries, in particular access to a lawyer and an interpreter.
Third Additional Protocol to the European Convention on Extradition was drafted by Council of Europe experts and adopted in November 2010. It will be submitted for formal consideration to the President and will enter into effect three months from ratification.
