Early parliamentary elections will cost 34 million lei

The estimate of expenses for the second elections this year is of 33,808,356 lei. Most of the expenses are provided for the maintenance of the polling stations – more than 10,000 lei for each, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The maintenance of polling stations includes expenses for salaries of the electoral bureaus’ members, social insurance contributions, payment for goods and services, office supplies and other”, Eugeniu Stirbu, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission told Info-Prim Neo. The maintenance of those 1944 stations will amount to over 20 million lei. “The sum includes the expenses planned for the 370 stations in Transnistria, if they will be opened”, Stirbu specified. Other serious expenses are planned for the publishing services – 3 million lei, payment for goods and services – 4 million lei, for district electoral councils – 5 million lei. The Chairman of CEC have also stated that there is no estimate of expenses drafted for the second round of the elections, in case of a low turnout. The estimate of expenses for organizing and conducting the early parliamentary elections on July 29, 2009 was approved at the CEC sitting on June 16.
