In the Republic of Moldova, there are conditions for positive developments in strengthening the early intervention service at the national level. But sustainability is based on the level of state support, while the financial support of the National Health Insurance Company is now inefficient, program coordinator at the Early Intervention Center “VoinicelIvan Puiu said in a session of discussions held as part of the national conference on inclusive education, IPN reports.

Ivan Puiu said that at least two decades of international experience preceded the appearance of the idea of early intervention in
Moldova. Michael J. Guralnick, a famous specialist in the field, said it is well known that a child who benefits on time from high-quality early intention services has more chances to radically change the development trajectory and to be integrated into society. Early intervention in childhood is a service centered on the family and its goal is to strengthen the parental capacities in the process of raising a child with disabilities.

The Early Intervention Center “Voinicel” uses the parent intervention model under which the parents significantly influence the development level of the child with disabilities during the early period.

“Voinicel” is the first early intervention center in Moldova that was founded in 2003. It initially worked in a small building, but in 2013 moved to a new building that is over 500 square meters in area, being situated on Drumul Taberei St in Chisinau.

The conference continues until December 10 and includes a number of webinars to present the results achieved in implementing the inclusive education development program for 2011-2020.
