The main demand of the people protesting in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau – to announce early parliamentary elections – cannot be satisfied, said invitees to the talk show “Politics” on TV7 channel, quoted by IPN.

Jurist Ion Dron said the only way to have early elections is for President Nicolae Timofti to resign, but this stated that he will not tender his resignation. “We are coming closer to the time limit of six months, when the head of state’s tenure expires. The Constitution bans holding early elections in the period. Early elections can be yet held if the President resigns and Parliament does not manage to elect the head of state by two rounds,” he stated.

Jurist Pavel Midrigan considers the European officials will not allow early legislative elections to take place in Moldova so as to avoid the coming to power of the pro-Russian forces. “The leaders of the Platform “Dignity and Truth” met with diplomats working in Chisinau. A goal could have been to calm things down. The protests mounted in central Chisinau will fail because there were formulated no clear demands to the government,” he said.

Political analyst Alexei Tulbure, who has protested nonstop in the square, expressed a different opinion. “The protest will produce the wanted result and the change will take place. It is a new kind of protest and the people are ready to go up to the end,” he stated.
