Moldova’s Premier in 1999-2001 Dumitru Braghis considers that Moldova will avoid the early parliamentary elections. According to him, the chances of forming a new Government without early elections are great as some of the parties have fear of elections and the foreign partners exert pressure. “I think that a new Government will be formed and it will continue to work further,” Dumitru Braghis said in the program “Good Evening” on the public TV channel “Moldova 1”, IPN reports.

According to the former Premier, it is hard to say if Moldova needs a technocratic Government. “The Government deals with the promotion of policies in a number of areas. The policies are mainly adopted by Parliament, by the political parties that are represented in the legislative body. Want it or not, the executive is a state body, even if it’s not formed by only one party. It anyway promotes the country’s policies,” said Braghis.

He also said that when he led the Government, he was lucky not to need stable political backing. Nobody in Parliament wanted to assume responsibility for the executive’s work. “That’s why we were more independent from the battles in Parliament,” stated Dumitru Braghis.

Vlad Filat was put forward for the post of Prime Minister by the head of state. Next week, he will hold consultations with the political parties to convince them to support the program and the governmental team.
