Each fifth Moldovan has plans to leave the country during the next six months, an increase of 25% compared with last year, when the intention to leave was stated by each sixth Moldovan, shows the People Watch poll conducted by CBX-AXA. The poll was commissioned by the Institute for Development and Social Initiative “Viitorul”, IPN reports.

Last year, 28% of the young people intended to leave Moldova, as opposed to 17% of the people of a middle age. This year the situation has changed. The young people continue to dominate by the intention to leave as a group, but the number of people of a middle age who would like to leave rose to 28%.

Of those able to work, 24.4% or each fourth person intends to live during the next few months, in contrast to 19.9% or each fifth person in 2017.

The poll covered a sample of 1,042 persons and was carried out during June 29 – July 9. The margin of sampling error is plus-minus 2.8%.
