E. coli bacteria that can cause food poisoning were found in cooked pasta given to students of the Tiraspol-based Scholl No. 9 as a result of inspections, IPN reports.

Director of the food complex “Shkolnik” (“School student”) Denis Ilievich, who is responsible for the delivery of food products to eateries of education institutions, said he possesses quality certificates for all the products.

Marina Kiseeva, senior specialist of the Tiraspol Education Division, presumed the E. coli bacteria could have reached the food with the low-quality water that is supplied through old pipes that need to be replaced.

Prophylaxis measures were taken at the school and, according to its administration, the classrooms and eatery are now safe.
